Sandy is Alex’s sister. He has two sisters. He doesn’t like his other sister. “She’s my sister and I love her but I don’t like her.”

I’d learned Alex was seeing three women at once. I told him he’d have to be honest. I knew of their being. We spoke about honesty and faithfulness. Honesty is a “thing” with Alex. “You can never be honest enough. If things don’t work out between us, we should talk it over as adults.”

Alex has an illegitimate son. I’d asked him why he hadn’t done the right thing. “I don’t love her. I didn’t mean it to happen.” The family teases him like anything. He protests: she’d looked better then than she does now. I told him it didn’t matter. I like the fact he can love the “unlovely”. He acknowledges his son is being well raised. He isn’t sure whether or not it is the mother or her grandparents who take care of his son. I respect Alex can recognise good parenting.
